We’re in countdown mode until our official start of our school year. 5 days to go. We’ve actually done a few days already, but those have been practice days. August 4th is the real deal. Some of you homeschool (like our family) and some of you don’t. Either way, I think it’s helpful to think through your school goals at the the beginning of each school year.
Are you ready to plan with me? Good!
Get out a piece of paper or open a document on your computer and write out your answers to these questions for each of your children. We have three school-aged kids this year. So, I’ll be doing this exercise three times.
- What are your child’s biggest strengths?
- With what areas does your your child needs extra assistance?
- What does a successful school year look like?
- What can you do to encourage your child in his/her strengths and remediate the areas of struggle?
- What possible roadblocks do you see?
- How can you work around the roadblocks?
- What motivates your child?
Here’s your take-away question. As a parent, what are you looking forward to most with this school year? Leave the answer in the comments.
