  • Each night, before I go to bed, I make sure this bag has my planner, notebooks, Bible study book, and prayer journal. It's my morning routine all packed up in that bag. The only thing left to add in the morning is a fresh cup of coffee!
.
.

This year, I'm bundling together a few things into my morning routine. I get up in the morning, read my Bible reading, write in my prayer journal, write in my regular journal and read a book for about 20 minutes. This helps me make progress on a bunch of my goals first thing in the morning.
.
.
 What's your morning routine?

  • If you've ever moved, you've probably been in a situation where someone asks you where you're from. I'm from Minnesota, but I live in Tennessee. But home? Where is home? I say I'm going "home" when we travel to Minnesota, but when our vacation is over, it's time to go "back home" and that's here in Tennessee. Home is both places and it's no place. Where is home for you?

  • My little cleaning helper. Shining up the baseboards. 😁
  • There's a give and take when it comes to loving this place where you live. To truly love our neighbors, we don't need to be the hero. Maybe our neighbors need a real friend more then they need a drive-by savior. #iheartmytown #loveyourneighbor #findingholyinthesuburbs
  • This is my corner of the sky.
.
.
It's the dead end of our cul-de-sac. This time of year the sky is often gray and grass dormant. Lifeless colors that make me want to move somewhere it's summer all the time.
.
.
Lately, I've had some surprising new thoughts on winter. I love these sunny, blue days in January, but I think I love them because it's not the same weather all the time. Any season that lasts too long makes me antsy-- even bright sunny days.
.
.
I think our souls were created for seasons. Something about the way we were created makes us sensitive to the seasonal rhythms of growth, activity and rest. We fight against it, but I wonder if we'd be healthier (spiritually and physically) if we welcomed the gray days as a sign to rest and work less and the blue sky days as an invitation to move more and check more off our lists.

  • In 2010 my husband found himself in a job situation that was so discouraging he decided it was time to look for something new.
.
2 years later, he found a new job. In Nashville. So, this Minnesota family packed our belongings and left the frozen north for the hills of Tennessee.
.
If I had been able to write our story, from the beginning, we would have never moved and Nathan would be doing a job, he was good at, but he didn't love.
.
But God.
.
Our unexpected life gave us the push we needed to create a hard and beautiful life someplace new and it's exactly what we needed. That hard thing you are going through might be creating something beautiful in you. #messybeautiful #imperfectcourage #undone #nashville #shereadstruth
