Psalm 125

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion.

It cannot be shaken. It remains forever.

Jerusalem — the mountains surround her.  And the Lord surrounds His people, both now and forever.

The scepter of the wicked will not remain over the land allotted to the righteous, so that the righteous will not apply their hands to injustice.

Do what is good, Lord, to the good, to those whose hearts are upright. But as for those who turn aside to crooked ways,

the Lord will banish them with evil doers.

Peace be with Israel.

Psalm 125

When the news gets loud and social media gets louder, I’ve found the best place to retreat is to God’s Word.

We live in a time when people can’t agree on what is true. Today, when I thought about writing, I couldn’t stomach putting more words of my own out there. I’m hungry for truth. So, I’m picking up where I left off in writing through the Psalms of Ascent.

These Psalms were the traveling music for the trip to the temple in Jerusalem.

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion. . . The Lord surrounds his people both now and forever.

Father, help us to trust you.

Do what is good Lord, to the good, to those whose hearts are upright.

Father, help me to be counted among the good. Give me an upright heart. I don’t know that I can rightly claim the words “good” or “upright”, but I want them to be true of me. Without you, it’s an impossible goal.
