Dear Mom Who Wants Her Kids Back In School After A Week Of Snow and Ice Days

Dear Mom  Who Really Wants Her Kids Back In School After A Week Off Due to Snow and Ice Days,

ice

I saw your posts on Facebook about how you were going to lose your minds if your kids were at home for one more day. I also saw the posts from other people questioning why you weren’t cherishing every moment with your kids.

And I think I need to say something.

I’m a homeschool mom. My kids are with me much of the time. And. . . come a little closer while I whisper this. . . I don’t actually cherish every moment and there are lots and lots of times I want to lock myself in my room and not have to deal with them. The thing about snow days (after a week of them) is that your kids get tired of you too and they are missing their normal routines just as much as the moms. And, for some, a snow day means rearranging an already-complicated work schedule with limited time off.

So, I understand and I don’t judge you.

Being a good mom doesn’t mean you have to want to spend every minute with your child. Wanting them to be back to their normal routine is not an indicator that you are a subpar mom. It’s just not.

For what it’s worth, I believe you love your kids. You are a fabulous mom.

Sincerely,

Amy
